Saturday 17th November 2018, 10am - 12pm
On Saturday 17th of November, Edinburgh’s first ever Happy Cafe will launch in Santosa Yoga, Therapy Centre and Cafe between 10am and 12pm. The Edinburgh Happy Cafe joins a growing network of groups around the world, who are part of the Action for Happiness movement, established in 2011. The idea behind the Happy Cafe is simple and inspiring: a friendly and welcoming place to meet other people with a shared interest in promoting happiness and wellbeing.
The Action for Happiness movement, whose patron is the Dalai Lama, now has over 123,000 members in 175 countries. Ros Cadoux and Simon Wallis, Co-Facilitators of the Happy Cafe Edinburgh said "We are thrilled to bring the Happy Cafe concept to the Scottish Capital. We wanted to find a way to promote happiness and wellbeing in the community and this felt like such a simple and effective way to do it.
“We are also delighted to be partnering Santosa, who have been incredibly supportive. We really want those attending to get something positive from the experience and to help us bring more happiness to our wonderful city."
Janis Binnie, owner of the Sanosa Yoga, Therapy Centre and Cafe said: ”Santosa is a community, not just a yoga studio, people come here to connect both to other people as well as to themselves. “The Happy Cafe is such a great fit with our ethos here - it's a real privilege to be Edinburgh's first Happy Cafe!"
In the first meeting of Edinburgh’s Happy Cafe, the group will explore the ’10 Keys to Happier Living’. Going forward, the group will meet in Santosa Yoga, Therapy Centre and Cafe on the last Saturday of every month and all are welcome to join. The venue is also wheelchair accessible.
