Tibetan Moon Bowls – seven metal, hand beaten singing bowls with a rounded, full moon shape. Each bowl is unique – the one shown stands 10cm high with a diameter of 17cm and weighs approximately 750g. Made using the traditional hand-beaten technique to produce a high quality singing bowl with deep, layered resonance and a long lasting sustain. The only decorations are the Tibetan OM or the OM Mani Padme Hum mantra engraved on one side.

Traditionally made from seven metals representing the planets recognised by monks since the formation of Tibetan Buddhism in the 7th century: Copper (Venus), Tin (Jupiter), Iron (Mars), Gold (Sun), Silver (Moon), Mercury (Mercury) and Lead (Saturn). Around 95% of the mixture is the basic “bell metal', made from 40 parts of copper to 20 parts of tin, which is key to producing the resonance of the bowls. The other elements are present in minor quantities following the traditional practice handed down through generations of Newar metal working artisans.
