Within Tibetan Buddhism Tara is the feminine Bodhisattva who vows to always be reborn as a woman and to work to relieve the suffering of all woman-kind. There are 21 forms of Tara, the most well known are Green Tara, White Tara and Bhrikuti Tara. All Taras are born from the tears of the Buddha of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara.
Green Tara: is associated with protection from fear and the eight obscurations. Green Tara holds Blue lotus flowers in each hand with her right hand in the Varada mudra, the gesture of blessing and is seated in the Lalita pose, the pose of ease.
