Update on Your Donations
Through the generosity and support of our customers, students, friends and family Santosa have raised £1,506 (as of 21 May 2015). Your donations are transferred directly into local emergency relief efforts in Nepal led by people we know and trust. 100% of your donation has reached these projects and has made a real and vital difference.
We have donated £1092 to Miranda Morton Yap and Michael Bocker-Larson two projects – Helter Skelter and To Da Loo. Helter Skelter distributed over 3500 tarps for immediate and temporary shelter throughout the crucial crisis time, either directly donating to people, subsidizing and passing them on for less than cost price, or simply distributing to people who have the funds, but were struggling to find supplies. They are now moving into more sustainable shelter ideas collaborating with a number of people to build affordable, sustainable, and earthquake resistant structures using the earth-bag technique. To Da Loo are leading teams of volunteers and building hundreds of toilets or latrine pits in densely populated communities. This work is vital to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
We have also donated a total of £261 to both Arun Rana and Ashesh Dangol. Both are good friends and both are leading separate teams of people making daily emergency relief drops to communities. They are still delivering food and water, medicines, clothing and temporary shelter each day. You can see daily updates of Ashesh's work on Facebook – Ashesh and Nekhvam and we will post an update from Arun Rana shortly.
Santosa made a direct donation of £171 to the 18 workers of one of our suppliers based in the village of Sipaghat, Sindhulchowk one of the worst hit areas. The workers chose to divide this money equally between each of them so they could buy supplies as each required.
We will continute to post updates on how your donations have helped the people of Nepal rebuild their lives - thank you!
